A full practice run of the iTEP English exam, free and in the browser. Five sections - Grammar, Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking - each with the real countdown, plus a CEFR report from A1 to C2 when you finish.

• Grammar - sentence completion and error detection, 10 minutes.
• Listening - conversations and a lecture, played once, 6 minutes.
• Reading - two passages with comprehension questions, 20 minutes.
• Writing - timed written responses, 25 minutes.
• Speaking - recorded answers with preparation time, 4 minutes.

Where the hour goes, and what it buys

The whole sitting is 65 minutes, and every section is worth the same fifth of your band. They are nowhere near the same fraction of the clock. Writing takes 38 per cent of your time for 20 per cent of the score; Speaking takes 6 per cent for the same 20. That is the one thing worth knowing before you sit down, and the home page draws it as two bars you can compare.

Exam mode and study mode

Exam mode keeps official timing and scores at the end; study mode gives feedback after every answer and lets the clock run past. Your attempt is saved locally, so closing the tab does not lose it. No account and no download.

Bring your own questions

The built-in exam is not the only one you can sit. The home page loads any question bank in its JSON shape: download the template, fill it in and bring it back. Banks exported by examia work as they are.
